Mayor
leads Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony in Highbridge
Mayor
Pauline Pollard joined residents besides Highbridge's Frank Foley
statue on Sunday (January 27th) to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
A
brief ceremony led by the Reverend Robin Lodge, vicar of Highbridge,
included prayers and a two minute silence.
Wreaths
were laid at the foot of the statue, as pictured here.
As
the silence took place, a member of the Royal British Legion honoured
the victims of the holocaust by lowering and raising the standard.
The
statue in Market Street was unveiled in May 2005 to honour Mr
Foley, the Highbridge war hero who saved the lives of thousands
of Jews.

The
ceremony was led by Reverend Robin Lodge, vicar of Highbridge,
and Mayor Pauline Pollard - pictured here.

A
large number of residents crowded around the statue to take part
in the ceremony on Sunday.
