Building
work well underway at £1.6m Burnham-On-Sea health
club
Construction
work
on a new £1.6m health club on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea
is progressing well and the facility's bosses have this week said
it is on track to open in January 2009.
The
roof of the new centre at Home Farm Holiday Park has been completed
in recent days, as pictured here, and internal work is due to
begin shortly.
Park
owner Steve Atkinson told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: "It's
all starting to take shape and although the building work is slightly
behind schedule by a few days, it is due to be completed in December
and the whole building will open in early January 2009."
The
centre has also just signed a deal with coffee chain Starbucks
to open a cafe selling its drinks.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
was first to report
plans for the two-storey health club last December, which is being
built on land just off Stoddens Lane.
The
centre - which will generate around 10 new jobs - will include
a 13m x 15m swimming pool incorporating a 7m x 7m fun pool, a
sauna, steam room and reception area, plus a fitness suite with
running machines, gym equipment and a tanning area. The complex
will be open to the general public on a membership basis.
