Building
work begins on £1.6m health club in Burnham-On-Sea
Building
work has begun this week on a new £1.6m health club and
swimming pool on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea.
The
first concrete piles have been driven into the ground at Home
Farm Holiday Park as a team of builders starts the six-month costruction
project.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
was first to unveil
the proposals for the two-storey health club last December, which
is being built on land just off Stoddens Lane.
Park
owner Steve Atkinson, pictured with foreman Nick Eyre at the site,
told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday (June 2nd) he was "delighted"
the project had got underway.
"We
are very excited that the construction is now underway and beginning
to take shape. The whole project is on schedule and we plan to
open in January 2009."
The
centre - which will generate around 10 new jobs - will include
a 13m x 15m swimming pool incorporating a 7m x 7m fun pool, a
sauna, steam room and reception area, plus a fitness suite with
running machines, gym equipment and a tanning area.
The
complex will not be reserved exclusively for the park's holidaymakers
and will be open to the general public on a membership basis.
"We've
been planning this for well over two years and are really pleased
the buiding work is building underway," added Mr Atkinson.
