Happy
ending as Burnham-On-Sea fire crew rescues trapped horse!
Burnham-On-Sea
fire fighters performed one of their most unusual rescues this
week when a horse became trapped in a vehicle.
The
fire crew was called to Alstone Riding Centre at West Huntspill
after the distressed animal, called Sparky, became stuck on top
of a wooden gate inside its horse box.
"It
had apparently been startled and tried to jump over the wooden
gate partition inside the box and then been unable to move,"
Fire Officer Ian Hazelton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"When
we arrived on the scene, the horse was in a very distressed state,
but we managed to free it by cutting off the gate."
A
spokeswoman at Alstone Riding Centre praised the fire crew for
their quick work, saying: "They were wonderful - we were
very grateful for their help."
"Fortunately,
Sparky only had a couple of scratches on him and has been unharmed
by the incident."
