Burnham-On-Sea
estate agency announces closure
Four
jobs will be lost when a Burnham-On-Sea estate agent ceases trading
on Friday (October 31st).
Hutchinson
Town and Country Estate Agents has announced that it is shutting
its High Street offices, pictured, due to the impact of the continuing
financial downturn and the uncertainty surrounding the property
market.
Owner
Graham Hutchinson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It has been a
privilege to run a business in a community that I love."
"We
as a company have always endeavoured to provide a service based
on integrity and honesty."
"I
would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has entrusted
us to market their homes for sale."
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com that taking the decision to close the
business had been "heart-breaking." He added: "We
are a small independent company. It's been the toughest decision
of my life both professionally and personally."
"It
has been an extremely bad year and I think the next four to six
months may be even worse."
He
added that all enquiries relating to properties previously marketed
by the company should be addressed to Gary Berryman Estate Agents
at 46 High Street, Burnham or by calling 01278 793700.
Alex
Turco, Chairman of Burnham's Chamber of Trade, gave his reaction
to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It is very sad to see this business
go after so much hard work has been put in."
"At
the same time, I would add that it is still encouraging that in
the current financial climate new businesses are still moving
into Burnham High Street."
"The
former electrical appliances shop run by Keith Cox and the former
Alladins Cave are being refitted ready for new owners. There's
also ongoing renovation at the former Regency Jo's and we shouldn't
forget the substantial restoration of the Ritz Cinema. People
continue to invest in Burnham despite the turbulent conditions."
