Future
of Burnham-On-Sea shop in doubt as lease goes on sale

One
of Burnham-On-Sea's longest-running shops looks set to close after
its owners this week put the property's lease on sale.
JPS
Shoe Centre has been a familiar sight on the corner of Burnham's
High Street and Pier Street for many years.
Now,
however, that the building's lease is available there are question
marks about who will take over the premises.
Geoff
Shickle, who runs JPS, explained the decision to Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We have been here for 24 years and the business has performed
well, but the lease has a short time to run."
"It's
not our intention to renew, so we are testing the market to see
what premium occupiers may be interested in taking it on."
"We
are extremely busy with Shickle Shoes and our online store at
Footwear4you.co.uk and it makes sense to rationalise the brands."
He
added: "There are very few buildings of this size in as prominent
a position in Burnham, so there has already been some interest."
The
property's lease, costing £33,500 per year after an initial
£25,000 premium, is available through Burnham estate agents
Abbott and Frost.
