High-kicking Burnham karate students gain their yellow belts

High-kicking students from Burnham-On-Sea's Kenpo Karate Club proudly show off their yellow belts after successfully completing a series of grading test.

They achieved the first step on the martial arts ladder by attaining their yellow belt gradings in front of their Instructor Mr Frank Ellul (2nd Dan Black belt) at Puriton Sports Centre.

A total of 14 students were tested in sparring, basics, kicking, punching and blocks. One of the Burnham students, Katie Brennan, was awarded the student of the month award for her enthusiasm and development of techniques.

Kenpo is a pure self-defence technique that is a mixture of Karate and Jujitsu. New students are always welcome and Classes are held at Highbridge's Morland Community Hall on Thursday evenings. The times are Juniors 6pm- 7pm and Adults 7pm – 8.15pm with more details here.
