Police
to hold public meeting in Burnham-On-Sea's Manor Gardens
Burnham-On-Sea
police are to hold a public meeting in the town's Manor Gardens
this Saturday (February 2nd) in response to mounting concerns
about vandalism and crime in the area.
During
the last five weeks Burnham police have received and responded
to 17 calls from the public regarding problems in the gardens
and surrounding area.
In
that time, they say they spoken to at least 165 youths in an effort
to tackle various issues, which include under-age drinking and
use of drugs.
Burnham
police's 'street briefing' will be held on Saturday afternoon
at 2pm in the Manor Gardens when residents will be invited to
hear what is being done to tackle the issues.
A
police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Many actions have
already been put into place. These include regular patrols of
the area, targeted high visibility patrols, the use of outside
resources to assist officers, the application of a mobile CCTV
camera, site meetings with residents and the council, and alcohol
seizures."
