Vandalised
shelters on Burnham seafront gain camouflage!

Boarded-up
shelters on Burnham seafront have been painted green in an attempt
to make them blend in more with the scenery around them.
The
Probation
Service Community Payback Scheme Team, in partnership with Sedgemoor
District Council, did the job this week after complaints about
the appearance of the two shelters at Marine Cove gardens, which
were closed in
February following a spate of vandalism.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
reported on two separate attacks during January when the windows
of the shelters were smashed, fences torn down and the wooden
benches left damaged. One person was arrested
at the time.
Sedgemoor
District Council has recently invested £5,000 on an upgraded
infra-red CCTV camera in the gardens to help police monitor the
site.
The
council hopes to regenerate the gardens in coming years if it
is successful in gaining £250,000 of Heritage Lottery funding.
