Burnham
Coastguards and lifeboats find missing person after search
Two
lifeboats and a team of Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea
were called out on Friday
evening (August 22nd) to search for a missing person at West Huntspill.
Both
Burnham RNLI's lifeboats, 'Staines
Whitfield' and 'Puffin', were launched
at 9.57pm from the beach (pictured) after a 55 year-old female
went missing along the banks of the River Parrett in
the vicinity of Huntspill Sluice.
Coastguards
searched a large area of marshland alongside the river while the
lifeboats scoured the water, with the aid of a white parachute
flare to help visibilty, for any sign of the person.
However,
the search was called off at 10.35pm when the lady was found safe
by local police in nearby Alstone Road in a distressed state.
Before
returning to the jetty, the Burnham lifeboat crews stoodby a grounded
yacht - as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here
earlier in the day - while it refloated on the incoming tide,
before escorting it to its berth at Combwich.
Both
lifeboats eventually returned to Burnham slipway for recovery
by the shore crew.
