Animal
lovers flock to Burnham-On-Sea church's annual pet service

A
tortoise and a dozen dogs were among the congregation at an unusual
church service held in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday afternoon (May
18th).
Over
30 animal lovers flocked to St Andrew's Church on The Esplanade
where Rev Graham Witts led the annual pet service.
Among
the animals sitting in the aisles was Trish Parfitt's tortoise,
Tip Toes, pictured here.
Trish
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This is always such a unique, wonderful
service. I try to bring Tip Toes every year."
The
event starts with a walk along the seafront to the churchyard,
followed by a 15-minute service that ends with a walk around the
church's grounds.
Partly
organised by local dog training service Canine Capers, the event
is always well-supported, says the group's spokeswoman, Marion
Day.
"It's
a great opportunity for animal lovers from across Burnham to come
together each year. I've been coming for around six years and
it's always a great social occasion."
