Council
calls in solicitor over Berrow mobile phone mast dispute
Burnham-On-Sea
town council is consulting with its solicitor over a mobile phone
company's bid to extend its coverage in the area.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
learns Vodafone wants to use an existing phone mast in a field
next to a Berrow graveyard, pictured here, to boost its signals.
It
claims that because the phone mast, which is located a field at
the rear of the Brent Road cemetry, is
already in use by rival Orange it does not need planning permission
to use it as well.
However,
town clerk Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: "Councillors
don't believe Vodafone has permission to use the mast just because
another mobile phone company, Orange, is already using it."
"One
mast is better than two, but we are seeking legal advice on the
matter and our solicitor is looking into this further for us."
