Storms
cause £1,000 of damage outside Burnham-On-Sea pier
These
were the scenes outside Burnham-On-Sea pier on Saturday morning
(March 1st) after storm-forced winds caused an estimated £1,000
of damage.
The
60mph winds snapped an umbrella and left two reinforced glass
panels broken, with shards of glass strewn across the pavement,
as pictured here.
"The
heavy winds came from the wrong direction and unfotunately resulted
in a lot of damage," pier owner Louise Parkin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"One
of the big umbrellas outside our eating area was sheered off and
this fell onto glass panels, breaking them."
Elsewhere
in the Burnham-On-Sea area, several residents reported garden
fences being blown down.
And
further along the seafront, a set of traffic lights near the Bay
View cafe was also damaged.
