'Chaotic'
town centre roadworks in Burnham-On-Sea due to finish

'Chaotic' roadworks which have brought the centre of Burnham-On-Sea
to a standstill for two months are finally set to finish this
weekend.
Deep
trenches, dozens of cones and temporary traffic lights have been
in place at the junction of Abingdon Street and Pier Street since
October 20th, causing delays for motorists and headaches for local
businesses.
But
Somerset County Council spokesman Robert Booth told Burnham-On-Sea.com
this week that the work is scheduled to finish this weekend.
He
said: "The work to refurbish traffic signals is on track
to be completed this weekend, with work finishing on December
21st."
Geoff
Shickle, owner of JPS Shoes, which is based on the corner of the
two streets, said he is relieved the work will soon come to an
end.
"It's
been chaotic at the junction for days on end and certainly hasn't
helped my trade," he said.
