Police armed with riot
shields swoop on flat in centre of Highbridge
These
were the scenes in the centre of Highbridge on Saturday afternoon
(January 19th) when police officers armed with riot shields dealt
with a serious incident in a flat.
Six
teams of officers rushed to Market Street at 3.05pm amid reports
that a white male armed with a crow bar had entered a flat near
to Smarts Newsagents.
Officers from an armed response unit were seen entering the building
equipped with riot shields - as pictured here.
An
eyewitness at the scene told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Some time
later, another police officer came out of the property with an
object - possibly a crow bar - in an evidence bag."
"Eventually
a man was removed from the property in handcuffs at 4.15pm and
he was taken away by police."
