Burnham-On-Sea
police arrest youths after Cove vandalism

Two
youths were arrested by Burnham-On-Sea police on Sunday evening
(August 31st) after local residents reported a large group of
young people damaging shelters in the town's Marine Cove gardens.
Six
police vehicles rushed to The Esplanade at 7.25pm, as pictured
here, and officers quickly broke up a large group of youths.
Police
spokesman Ian Stover told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Two arrests
were made and several dispersal notices were served."
"It
came after police received complaints about youths attacking buildings
in the gardens."
The
damage was clear to see on Monday, with wooden boarding around
the shelters having been ripped open and grafitti sprayed in paint
on the back of the buildings.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
exclusively reported in
June how an online petition had been launched to gather support
for a £670,000 scheme to renovate the gardens.
In
March, Sedgemoor District
Council made a submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund's 'Parks
For People' programme.
The bid covers bringing back lost features - such as a sundial,
water fountain and several benches - plus restoring the shelters
and more.
