Council confirms multiple
bidders interested in Burnham pool
The
prospect of a new owner being found to take over Burnham-On-Sea's
closure-threatened swimming pool rose this week when the district
council confirmed that several bids had been received to save
the facility.
Sedgemoor
District Council confirmed that more than one bid had been submitted
to take on the pool by the deadline of Monday evening (March 17th).
It
was first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com two
weeks ago that five bidders were in the frame to take over
the Berrow Road pool.
On
Tuesday (March
18th),
Teresa
Harvey, leader of Sedgemoor's Task and Finish Committee which
is trying to find a new provider for the pool, said that "more
than one bid had been received" but she could not give details
of the names for legal reasons.
The
D-Day for the pool remains set for March 26th when the district
council will decide which, if any, of the bids is chosen.
