Burnham-On-Sea councillor
praised for role in helping to save pool
The
congregation of a Burnham-On-Sea Church broke out into applause
during a service on Sunday (April 13th) for a councillor who played
a vital role in saving the town's swimming pool from closure.
Members
of St Andrew's Church formally thanked Burnham's Deputy Mayor,
Cllr Neville
Jones, for his work behind the scenes negotiating with new pool
bosses Sara-Jane Cox and Mark Conklin.
Reverend
Graham Witts explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The theme
of Sunday's service was giving life and I told the congregation
that it is all too easy to look back at the important roles people
have played after they have gone."
"Given
the life that has suddenly been put back into the pool, we applauded
Neville Jones in recognition of his siginificant role. He worked
very hard behind the scenes to secure the pool's future."
