Burnham-On-Sea
pool 'is UK's most threatened swimming pool'
Burnham-On-Sea's
swimming pool has this week been named the UK's most-threatened
swimmimg pool.
The
Daily Telegraph published a list of the least safest pools
in terms of their future operation and Burnham came top.
Tom
Ashton of Burnham's Save Our Swimming Pool group (pictured holding
the article) said: "It is very concerning that the pool has
been recognised in this way - we are doing everything we can to
ensure the pool's future is safeguarded."
In
the article, Duncan Goodhew, the British Olympic swimming gold
medallist, states: "It's a disgrace, a national scandal.
Every school within a certain radius must have a pool, and every
Specialist Sports College should have a pool. A swimming pool
is not something a school should have to fight for."
