Technical problem shuts Burnham-On-Sea swimming pool

Burnham-On-Sea swimming pool was shut to the public on Sunday morning (February 17th) due to a technical problem and is likely to remain closed until later on Monday.

"The pool closed at 7am this morning due to an electrical problem in the plant room," Duty Manager Jeff Smith explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com.

He added that the pool, which is situated in Berrow Road, may re-open later on Monday (February 18th) if the repairs can be completed quickly. The problem revolves around a fault with a circulation pump.

The news is a blow to the 34-year-old swimming pool, which is often very busy with children during half term holiday week.

The pool may permanently close from the end of May unless a new owner can be found to take over it.
