4,100 homes without power in Burnham and Highbridge

-

Over 4,000 homes were briefly without power in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge on Wednesday afternoon (April 9th) after an accident on the building site pictured here.

Western Power Distribution said workers at a building site near Apex Drive had accidentally cut through a power supply, affecting supplies to 4,100 properties in Burnham and Highbridge.

The spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Power was cut to 4,100 homes in the area at around 3.30pm today.”

“Most were switched across to a back-up alternative supply within a few minutes.”

The interruption to supplies comes less than a fortnight after a similar power cut left large areas of Burnham and Highbridge in the dark.
