Replacement
RAF plaque unveiled on Burnham seafront following theft
A
new seafront plaque to replace one stolen from Burnham's sea wall
to celebrate 60 years of the town's Royal Air Forces Association
was formally unveiled on Friday (October 31st).
Burnham-On-Sea.com
first reported in September
how the Royal Air Forces Association plaque near the top of the
jetty had been stolen by thieves seeking scrap metal.
On
Friday afternoon a sort ceremony was held to unveil the replacement,
which has cost the RAFA a total of £400.
Laurence
Lillycrop of the Burnham branch of the Royal Air Forces Association
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It shocked us that someone would
steal such a wonderful plaque and that money has had to be spent
on replacing it."
The
plaque was originally unveiled during a special
ceremony in September 2006.
The
Royal Air Forces Association promotes the welfare of all serving
and former members of the UK's Air Forces, their spouses and dependents.
