Agency's work
to maintain Burnham sea wall is underway

A
programme of work to maintain Burnham's sea wall is underway by
the Environment Agency.
Gaps
between the concrete steps often occur when tar melts in the summer
months and the corrosive salty water erodes and weakens parts
of the structure - therefore making the regular strengthening
work essential.
The
wall has taken
a hammering on several occasions during recent years when
it has felt the brunt of stormy seas. The
current work is being carried out by a team of three workers and
is scheduled to last several weeks.
