Burnham-On-Sea teenager arrested after shoplifting incident

Smashed bottles were strewn over a Highbridge road on Monday evening (July 21st), as pictured, after a suspected shoplifter was caught running away from a supermarket with a large amount of alcohol.

A 16-year-old boy from Burnham-On-Sea was arrested in Coronation Road and charged with shoplifting after being apprehended after a police chase that began in the town's nearby Asda supermarket.

"Police were called to the store at 7pm following the theft of some alcohol," police spokesman Dan Mountain told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"Officers arrested a 16-year-old male from Burnham, who was bailed to appear before Sedgemoor Magistrates on August 1st."
