Supermarket giant says
its Burnham-On-Sea store is not up for sale
Supermarket
giant Somerfield
has quashed rumours that it has sold or is considering selling
its Burnham-On-Sea seafront store.
The
supermarket chain, which is based in Bristol, told Burnham-On-Sea.com
on Wednesday that it has no plans to make any changes to the store
in Pier Street.
Spokeswoman
Julie Daniels said: "I can confirm that there are no plans
to sell the land around our Burnham store, sell the store itself,
or move away from the site."
"Somerfield
has recently heavily invested in its Burnham-On-Sea store and
it has a good future ahead of it."
The
comments came
after rumours in Burnham during recent days that the store might
be set for radical changes. It follows national newspaper reports
last weekend that the company has received three takeover offers
in recent weeks.
