Hot cross buns cause
small fire at Highbridge residential home
Several
hot cross buns left unattended in a toaster caused a small house
fire in Highbridge on Friday morning (March 21st).
A
fire engine from Burnham-On-Sea was sent to Sparks Way at 11.16am
after an alarm was activated in a residential home for young people.
"The
fire was due to unattended hot cross buns being left in a toaster,"
explained a fire spokesman to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"It
caused damage to the toaster and contents, together with light
smoke damage to five rooms."
The
fire was out on arrival, but the fire crew ventilated the property
using a positive pressure ventilation fan and duty of care was
left with the manager.
A
Burnham fire spokesman warned that toasters should not be used
to cook larger food items, thereby causing a fire hazard.
