Burnham-On-Sea
businesses call for improved street cleaning
Businesses
in Burnham-On-Sea are calling for more frequent rubbish collections
over the summer months.
Traders
at the latest Chamber Of Trade meeting called on Sedgemoor District
Council to increase street cleaning along the High Street and
Esplanade.
"Bins
along the seafront frequently overflow during the day and evening
because of the scheduling of the collections," said Louise
Parkin of the Pavilion. "There are also weeds growing up
through the pavements in several spots."
Joan
White of the Tickle Your Taste Buds cafe on the High Street suggested
that a street cleaner should be introduced in the town over the
summer in a similar way to Weston.
Cllr
Eric Gill, Chairman of Burnham Town Council's Town Improvements
Committee, said he would be taking up the matter with Sedgemoor's
Clean Surroundings Team.
