Burnham-On-Sea
street party raises over £1,000 for carnival
club

More
than £1,000 was raised for a local carnival club during
a Burnham-On-Sea pub's Bank Holiday weekend street party on Sunday
(May 25th).
Despite
grey skies, the event outside the Somerset and Dorset drew large
crowds of revellers to the southern end of the High Street where
music from a range of acts boomed out across the town.
The
High Street was closed for the evening to allow a huge lorry to
move into position and act as the stage.
The
six-hour event also included a barbecue, raffle, stalls and tombola
in aid of Hillview Carnival Club.
John
Quinnell, landlord of the S&D, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The
event was a great success. Despite
thunder storms all around us, we were lucky not to have a drop
of rain all evening."
"I
think we'll have raised over £1,000 on the night, but we
won't know the final figure for a couple of days."
