Burnham-On-Sea
swimmer wins regional volunteering award
Burnham-On-Sea
Swimming Club's Danielle Hembrough has this week been named the
winner of a regional award for 'Young Volunteers In Swimming'.
She was handed the sought-after accolade by the Amateur Swimming
Association's South West Regional President, Harold Richards,
as pictured here, and will now go on
to represent the national volunteers.
Sarah
Pusill, Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club's Head Coach and Somerset
President, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Danielle helps the swimming
club for at least three hours a week. She helps with classes,
from non-swimmers right up to swimmers, by teaching them how to
use the pace clock and to understand a training programme."
"She
is also happy to get in the pool and show the swimmers the drills
and ask them afterwards to try and copy. The development squad
really look up to her."
"Since
Danielle started helping she has also been working towards her
bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award."
"She
is a credit to the club and will hopefully continue her hard work
and have a career in the sport."
