Soaring fuel costs prompt
taxi fares hike in Burnham-On-Sea
Taxi
fares in Burnham-On-Sea and other parts of the district are being
increased this month.
Sedgemoor
District Council's licensing committee has unanimously backed
the five per cent price increase to help taxi firms cope with
rising fuel prices.
Charges
are now £2.20 for the first 760 metres of a journey, compared
to the previous rate of £2.20 for the first 800 metres.
Overall
costs for customers now work out at 20 pence for every 171 metres
instead of 20 pence for every 180 metres. A waiting rate of 20p
per 40 seconds also applies.
The
Sedgemoor Hackney and Private Hire Drivers Association had
asked for the increase to help its members.
