Tesco
seeks permission to build 17 homes besides Burnham-On-Sea store
Supermarket
giant Tesco has this week submitted a formal planning application
to build 17 new homes on land at the western end of its Burnham-On-Sea
store in Love Lane.
Tesco's
plans for the new homes were first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com
in July but firm proposals
have only just emerged this week.
The
company has submitted its application for outline planning permission
to Sedgemoor District Council, who will consider the scheme in
detail over the next few weeks.
If
approved, the scheme would see a development of new homes being
built at the rear of the Rosewood inn in Love Lan on land running
to the back of existing homes in Ashcott Place. The new homes
are in line with its plans to extend its store, which are shown
below.
Last
week, the supermarket defended
its plans against criticism from shop owners in Burnham town
centre who fear the enlarged store could hurt their trade.
