Representatives from more than a dozen Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge groups received grant boosts from the town council on Monday (February 4th).

The authority awards grants to local organisations and charities every year at this time and Mayor Pauline Pollard handed over £2,500 to fourteen groups before its monthly meeting in its Jaycroft Road council chambers, as pictured here.

The groups include Burnham and Highbridge Army Cadets (£250), Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets (£250), 290 Squadron Air Cadets (£250), 1st Burnham Scout Group (£250), Highbridge Community Hall (£250) and Highbridge Festival of The Arts (£200).

Other recipients include the Friends of Apex Park (£125), Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society (£400), Burnham Philosophical Society (£50), the Vale of Avalon Vintage Vehicle Road Run (£100), Chalice Morris Men (£50), KazDanz Youth Dance Group (£100) and Burnham United Football Club (£200).

Cllr John Morgan, Chairman of the council’s Policy and Finance Committee, said the hand-outs “were one we can say thank you to local groups and that we appreciate the time you put in for our local community.”
