Burnham-On-Sea
Triathlon and Aquathon will go ahead during 2008
Sedgemoor
District Council announced on Thursday (January 24th) that two
of Burnham-On-Sea's leading sports events held at Burnham Swimming
Pool will go ahead as normal during 2008.
The
proposed closure of the town's swimming pool had cast doubt on
the future of the Burnham Aquathon on Sunday 13th April, and the
Burnham-on-Sea Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday 1st June, as reported
by Burnham-On-Sea.com last
year.
However,
the council announced on Thursday afternoon that both the popular
events will take place this year.
Any
queries regarding either event should be directed to Rob Semple
at Burnham Pool on 01278 785909 and entry forms are available
online here.
There
is still no news, however, about the future of this year's Stert
Island Swim - which Burnham-On-Sea.com exclusively reported
earlier this month is in doubt due to the current round of cash
cuts.
