World
Championship triathlete joins 'turbo swim' at Burnham-On-Sea
pool
Dozens
of the region's top triathletes, including one who competed in
this year's World Triathlon Championships, were in action at Burnham-On-Sea
swimming pool this week.
West
Country Triathletes held a 'turbo swim' at the pool in Berrow
Road, where the athletes completed multiple lengths of the pool
and cycled on static bikes.
Among
those in action was Mark Ashurst from Rooksbridge, who recently
returned from Florida after taking part in the World Triathlon
Championships.
This
week's event was organised by Mike Gardner, a long-time supporter
of local athletics events.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This was our first 'turbo' session
here for well over 10 years, and it's good to see it's been so
well supported with a wide range of athletes, from teenagers to
50 year-olds."
"They
completed three tough sessions of swimming and cycling that are
superb preparation for the triathlons coming up over the coming
months. We hope to hold these sessions every few months from now
on."
