Freak 'twister' causes damage to water park site near Burnham
A
powerful, freak whirlwind caused extensive damage at a water park
near Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday afternoon (July 6th).
Middlemoor
Water Park bore the brunt of the extreme weather conditions, which
saw sudden strong winds similar to a tornado bring down fences,
raise sheds and cause damage to equipment and gardens.
The
park's Julia Cox told Burnham-On-sea.com: "The winds just
seemed to come from nowhere and were incredibly strong for a very
short time."
"It
was frightening. Our garden was badly damaged and a trampoline,
which had only just recently been bought as a birthday present,
was destroyed when it was flung into the water."
The
twister struck the area at 4.30pm and the storm quickly weakened
as it passed over Huntspill and blew itself out over the Bristol
Channel. Damage was restricted to a very small area. Our photos
show some of the damage at the park still visible on Monday morning.
