Vintage
vehicles set to converge on Burnham-On-Sea seafront
More
than 100 vintage vehicles are set to converge on Burnham's seafront
on Saturday afternoon (June 7th) for the 15th annual Vale of Avalon
Vintage Vehicle Road Run.
The
South Esplanade will be closed to traffic for four hours to allow
the crowds to wander around the cars, motorbikes, vans and lorries
which date back more than 20 years.
Among
the vehicles on display will be vintage ice cream vans, police
cars and fire engines alongside valuable old cars and motorbikes.
The
41-mile road run attracts large crowds of spectators to the town's
seafront and will this year set off from Burnham for the first
time. The cars will arrive in Burnham at 2.30pm and leave en masse
at 5.30pm.
Organiser
Daphne Stone told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We're hoping for another
great event. The vehicles will start arriving on Burnham seafront
in the afternoon and be there for three hours, when they'll make
their way to Glastonbury."
Thousands
of pounds is raised for charity at each year's event, with this
year's rally benefiting the Royal Ghurkha Regiment Welfare Fund.
