Yacht aground sparks Coastguard alarm in River Parrett estuary

Coastguards were alerted after this yacht went aground on mudflats at the entrance to the River Brue estuary in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday afternoon (August 3rd).

The yacht, pictured here, was spotted high and dry at the junction of the Rivers Brue and Parrett, by a seafront walker who contacted Swansea Coastguards at 4.25pm.

But the yacht was later understood to have not been in difficulty and had been waiting for the incoming tide before continuing its trip upstream.
