Motorist air-lifted to hospital after crash shuts A38 at Burnham-On-Sea

-

These were the scenes on the A38 at Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday morning (May 3rd) after a motorist had to be air-lifted to hospital following a serious accident.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Edithmead at 11.15am following a collision between a car and a motorbike.

The busy route was shut for several hours, causing long delays to Bank Holiday weekend traffic.

Two air ambulances were called to the scene and one casualty, who was understood to have suffered serious injuries, was rushed to hospital.

A fire engine from Burnham-On-Sea and another from Weston, plus a fire rescue tender from Weston, also attended the scene.

“On arrival, the fire crews confirmed this was a collision involving two motorcyclists and one car driver. There were no persons trapped, but the fire service assisted paramedics with three casualties,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
