First
look at Highbridge park's new-look £140,000 playing area
Residents
in Highbridge are to be asked for their views about plans for
a £140,000 revamp of Apex Wildlife Park's children's play
area.
As
first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com in
January, the facility is to get a revamp thanks to £60,000
of lottery funding and a further £80,000 from local property
developer contributions.
The
design of the new 'playscape' has been unveiled this week, as
pictured above, by landscape architects Swan Paul Partnership
Ltd.
It
comes a period of consultation with Barnardo's South West and
local children to help create a child-friendly design.
The
concept plans include new mounds, a new bridge, tunnel, embankment
slides, log hide and den, climbing pieces, as well as pod swings.
Work
is expected to commence in June 2009 and be completed in time
for the school summer holidays in July 2009.
Comments
and questions will be welcomed from local residents during an
open meeting to be held at the Apex Park Information point on
Wednesday March 18th between 3pm and 6.30pm.
