New police information point
opened at Highbridge supermarket
Highbridge
shoppers can now pick up crime-fighting advice and discuss concerns
with local police when they visit the town's Asda supermarket.
A
police information point has been set-up in the store's car park,
as pictured, and is being run by the beat team and two community
support officers.
The
building has cost £13,000 to set up and Asda is to donate
£6,000 a year towards its running costs.
Volunteers,
who have been given training on crime reduction advice and bike
and property marking, will also be on hand.
The
centre will fully open over the next few weeks, once issues with
electricity supplies have been resolved.
A
special beat surgery will also be held at the information centre
between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Thursday 12th February.
