Police in Burnham-On-Sea are investigating an alleged assault which occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning (September 20th).

A 30 year-old man was attacked as he walked along Oxford Street after a night out with friends.

“Around 1.30am he was walking along Oxford Street when he was approached by a female who appeared upset. After briefly speaking with her, he saw four or five other people approaching,” a relative of the man told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Before he knew what was happening, he was struck around the head with a severe blow. When he arrived home, a family member contacted the police and a paramedic, who promptly attended.”

Police spokesman Steve Game told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the man “suffered bruising and cuts to face” and appealed for the public’s help.
