Up-and-coming bands from the Burnham-On-Sea area will get a chance to win a day at a recording studio and a photo shoot during a ‘battle of the bands’ competition in the town on Wednesday evening (February 18th).

The event is being held at the Pier Tavern in Pier Street from 8.30pm and is being organised by music promoter Burnham Rock, in association with pub owner Jamie Roberts.

The preliminary heats of the competition were held on December 23rd, with the final scheduled for May 28th.

“If the average age of your band is eighteen or less, you live in Burnham, Bridgwater, Weston, Cheddar or the Wells areas, we ecourage you to take part. You will need to do a set of at least 20 minutes with two original numbers,” organiser Jeff Ham told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We are expecting ‘Cover the Crisis’, ‘No Entry’, and ‘Panic’ Office’ to be playing, but it is not too late to make a late entry.”

The first prize will be a full day at Horizontal’s music studio with professional producers Brian Monk and Gary Coombes, a photo shoot with local photographer Mike Lang, and a booking at next summer’s Under A Summer Moon concert in Burnham-On-Sea, sharing the bill with big name bands. To enter the competition, contact Jeff Ham on 01278 792334.
