Burnham-On-Sea Beavers awarded
healthy eating badges

A
group of Burnham-On-Sea Beaver Scouts who have been learning all
about healthy eating have were presented with badges on Thursday
(March 5th) to mark their new knowledge and skills.
Mandy
Williams, who is taking charge of the 1st Burnham-On-Sea Beavers
in September, has been working with the group to help them gain
the awards.
She
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "They have worked really hard to
achieve their Healthy Eating and Health & Fitness badges,
which were presented to them at a ceremony on Thursday."
The
children had a range of activities to complete to achieve the
badges. She explained: "They had to make two varieties of
healthy sandwiches, which saw some wonderful concoctions created.
We had an exercise week and managed to have lots of energy for
our 'Healthy or Unhealthy' run-around game. Other activities included
making a fruit salad, planning a healthy menu, talking about personal
hygiene and talking about sports."
The
group is appealing for new volunteers to come forward to help.
Mandy said: "We are keen to welcome new leaders and CRB-cleared
helpers into the Scouting movement. We cannot stress enough how
much we value support from parents as occasional or regular helpers."
"We
also welcome parents to step forward and become warranted leaders.
This has the added advantage of a fully comprehensive training
programme, and carries well on a CV for potential job vacancies."
