Britain In Bloom awards ceremony in Burnham-On-Sea

Dozens
of Burnham-On-Sea residents were presented with awards when the
town's annual Britain In Bloom ceremony was held on Friday evening
(November 13th).
Almost
100 residents and business owners crowded into the town council
chambers for the event, when awards were given to those who had
helped brighten up the town with floral displays over the summer
months.
The
evening began with Mayor Derick Cooper being presented with a
Britain In Bloom Silver award, as pictured above, by Sedgemoor
District Council Chairman Jane Moreton and Burnham In Bloom organisers
Dave Perrett and Richard Young.
The
award was won by the town as a whole in the Sergeant Cup, which
saw Burnham competing against numerous mid-sized towns across
the South West.
The
Friends of Apex Park's Derek Chivers was also presented with a
Certificate of Outstanding Achievement by Cllr Moreton. The certificate
was won by the park in the Neighbourhood Awards section of the
Britain In Bloom competiton.
Dozens
of awards were then handed out to local residents and businesses
by Mayor Derick Cooper, who told the award winners: "This
competition is a super example of how the community working together
with councils and bloom organisers can really wok in our town.
Without your efforts, the town would not have looked nearly as
wonderful as it did this summer." Click

Mr
Perrett and Mr Young were thanked for their work in organising
the awards. Dave told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the ceremony was
the final one where both Highbridge and Burnham would be represented
since Highbridge has launched its own Highbridge In Bloom group.
