Anger
as 'mindless vandals' leave trail of damage in Brean
A
clean-up operation was underway in Brean this week after vandals
left a trail of damage in the centre of village, leading to repairs
running into hundreds of pounds.
Several
walls in the centre of the village were damaged, and flowers were
pulled out of beds along Coast Road and left strewn across pavements,
as pictured here.
Angry
parish councillors have been left to clean up the mess and foot
the bill for the repairs.
Parish
Council Vice Chairman Jon Harris told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Something
like this does sadly happen every year."
"Getting
the coping stones replaced and the damage repaired will cost an
estimated two to three hundred pounds. It is very annoying."
And
Parish Council Clerk Barry Hunt added: "They are just mindless
idiots with nothing better to do when the pubs close - it's very
sad that it's happened again."
Meanwhile,
police in the village have stepped up their late night patrols
to try and avoid any repetition.
They
are also urging local residents and traders in the village to
report any further incidents of vandalism to ensure that action
can be taken.
