Excitement is building ahead of Monday’s 62nd annual Burnham-On-Sea Carnival, which will feature more than 90 colourful entries.

The carnival floats will first arrive in Burnham-On-Sea late on Saturday night (November 8th) after completing the North Petherton Carnival.

The floats will gather along the B3140, between Edithmead and Love Lane, and will be on display to the public in the daytime throughout Sunday and Monday (albeit without the dazzling lights, dancers or music).

The build-up to the carnival itself will begin on Sunday evening (November 8th) when Burnham’s annual seafront fireworks display takes place at 7pm. Click here for a full preview.

Burnham’s carnival parade will begin at 7.30pm on Monday evening near the town’s Tesco supermarket and then wend its way along Love Lane, onto Manor Road, and then along the High Street before finishing in Marine Drive.

This year’s Carnival Queen Jessica Rogers (pictured) and her princesses, Burnham girls Danielle Hockey and Bethany May Ellis, will lead the procession through the town.

Road closure come into operation earlier in the evening and full details of the route, car parking, and road closures appear here on Burnham-On-Sea.com’s carnival guide.

Malcolm Borland, President of the Carnival Association told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Everything is going to plan and we’re delighted that there is a good long list of entries again this year. Everyone’s looking forward to this year’s event, which promises to be a superb one.”

Among the local entries will be Hillview JCC with its Gee Wiz carnival float, which was exclusively featured here last month.

Burnham’s emergency services, including St John Ambulance, BARB and HM Coastguard, will be near the front of the procession.
