Burnham-On-Sea Carnival Preview: Final countdown underway

-

Final preparations are underway for tonight’s 62nd annual Burnham-On-Sea Carnival, which will feature more than 90 colourful entries.

Spectators are being advised to wrap up warm, with weather forecasters predicting temperatures will dip to a chilly five degrees Centigrade – although it should remain dry.

The dozens of colourful floats arrived in Burnham’s Queen’s Drive late on Saturday, as pictured here.

Burnham’s carnival parade will begin at 7.30pm near the town’s Tesco supermarket and then wend its way along Love Lane, onto Manor Road, and then along the High Street before finishing in Marine Drive.

This year’s Carnival Queen Jessica Rogers (pictured) and her princesses, Burnham girls Danielle Hockey and Bethany May Ellis, will lead the procession through the town.

Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club will display its float, Gee Wizz, with high hopes of more success, having scooped first place in its class at North Petherton and Bridgwater.

The build-up to the carnival itself began on Sunday evening (November 8th) when Burnham’s annual seafront fireworks display took place. Click here for a full review.

Road closure come into operation earlier in the evening and full details of the route, car parking, and road closures appear here on Burnham-On-Sea.com’s carnival guide. Burnham’s emergency services, including St John Ambulance, BARB and HM Coastguard, will be near the front of the procession.
