Huge crowd watches colourful Burnham-On-Sea Carnival

A
huge crowd of more than 20,000 people lined the streets of Burnham-On-Sea
on Monday evening (November 9th) to watch the town's annual illuminated
carnival.
Over
90 floats and entertainers wowed the spectators with a cavalcade
of colour and excitement.
Gremlins
Carnival Club's Joust, above, won the award for best feature float
while Gemini's To The Trees won the award for best entry. See

This
year's Carnival Queen Jessica Rogers and her princesses, Danielle
Hockey and Bethany May Ellis, led the procession through the town,
as pictured.
Some
of the biggest cheers of the night were for Burnham's Hillview
Carnival Club, whose float, Gee Wizz, won the award for the best
entry in the Juvenile category. This made it three out of three,
after wins at North Petherton and Bridgwater. Read more about

Burnham
Carnival Association Chief Marshall Phil New told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"The event was a huge success and we're delighted with how
it went. The procession was late starting, but there were no major
hold-ups."

Burnham's
Hillview Carnival Club scooped the top award in the juvenile class

Carnival Club's float was second overall in the tableaux class
after Gemini CC's To The Trees (below)


Vagabonds
Carnival Club's colourful float moved along Burnham High Street
- it won the award for best decorated towing vehicle driver
