Rain fails to stop play at Highbridge Children’s Centre’s fifth birthday!

-

Poor weather failed to dampen spirits at Highbridge Children’s Centre on Friday (July 17th), which celebrated its fifth anniversary with a busy day of activities.

Staff, parents and children flocked to the centre in Coronation Road for the special event despite heavy rain showers.

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Derick Cooper, opened the event by cutting a ribbon, as pictured above, and staff members and pupils cut a large birthday cake to mark the occasion.

Manager Julian Plested told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are very proud of our Children’s Centre and were delighted to be able to celebrate this landmark event.”

“The rain did mean several activities had to be changed on the day, but it was a great event that will be remembered for a long time.”

In addition to face painting, drumming, a disco and craft making, there were also visits by the fire service, police, BARB and RNLI during the day.

The purpose built centre, situated next to Beechfield Infants School, incorporates a nursery and many other services for local families.
