Tennis players work off Christmas meals at Boxing Day tournament

Sixteen Burnham-On-Sea tennis players worked off their Christmas dinners with an afternoon of volley and serve on Boxing Day.

Burnham's Avenue Tennis Club held a special tournament in which the lady and junior partners swapped teams after each player had served once.

The ladies winner was Sue Parson and the mens winner was Head Coach Vinny Duddy.

"The tournament was a complete success," Head Coach Vinny Duddy told Burnham-On-Sea.com. "We intend to organise the event again next year and hopedto get even more players involved."

Coaching at the club re-start in the New Year with 'Saturday Pay and Play' from 9am. Junior Academy and Squad Group Coaching will start on Monday 11th January, while adults intermediate and beginner classes will re-start on Thursday 14th January and Friday 15th respectively.

The first social event of 2010 will be a Robbie Burns night at the Tennis Club on Saturday 30th January. Tickets are available by calling 01278 782758.
